Comox Coop Gas Bar employees join UFCW 1518!

A warm welcome to the newest members of UFCW Local 1518 - employees of the Comox Coop's Aspen Gas Bar. In a vote conducted February 20, employees there voted overwhelmingly in favour of joining the union, and joined Coop workers at a number of locations on Vancouver Island who also belong to UFCW 1518.

"We're delighted that the Comox Coop Gas Bar employees have voted to join," said Ivan Limpright, President of UFCW 1518, "and we're looking forward to working with them and getting a first contract negotiated."

"This is a good, positive step that is going to give these workers a real voice at work, and respect," he said. "We have members from a number of different Coops who have enjoyed the advantage of belonging to our union for many years now, and I'm really pleased to welcome our newest Coop members from Comox."

UFCW 1518 also represents workers at Hornby Island Coop, Mid-Island Coop, Sointula Coop, Ucuelet Coop, and the Alberni Coop.
